Rockrose Gardens – Interiors
Named after a resilient plant known for thriving in drought and adversity, Rockrose Gardens offers beauty and dignity to low-income residents who have experienced economic hardship and psychiatric disabilities. This striking new housing complex includes 21 thoughtfully designed apartments, integrated common areas, and landscaped courtyards that foster a sense of community and well-being.
Interim Inc.—a nonprofit organization supporting individuals in recovery from mental health challenges—partnered with WRD Architects to bring this LEED for Homes Gold-certified facility to life. Every aspect of the design was created to promote health, wellness, and connection among residents.
Located on a hilltop site off Abrams Drive in Marina, the buildings are unified by sloped roofs and earth-toned finishes that blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Interiors feature abundant natural daylight, vaulted ceilings, and calming, nature-inspired color palettes. A spacious community room offers a welcoming space for group interaction, while the inner courtyard provides a safe, serene setting for outdoor gatherings and quiet reflection.
Six custom rockrose tile mosaics—created by Interim Inc. clients—are prominently displayed throughout the site, symbolizing strength and resilience. Custom-designed gates adorned with rockrose blossoms echo this theme, reinforcing the project’s powerful message of hope and renewal.
