Interior Designer
SUMMARY:
The designer will provide interior design project management services and manage multiple interior design projects from conception through construction. As part of a project team, meet with the Project Manager and the client to define interior design expectations with regard to high quality design, on time delivery of deliverables, and project budget. Additionally, the designer will build and maintain effective relationships with existing clients and prospects to generate new business opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management
Implement all phases of a design project which includes, budgeting, scheduling, planning, design, and specifications.
Construction Administration
Utilize a floor plan to develop interior design plans which include interior specifications and submit for plan check. Attend and/or organize job site meetings with the owner and contractor, respond to RFI’s from the contractor, process submittals, and process change orders as they relate to the interior portion of the project.
Materials and Furnishings Specification
Research, evaluate, and identify materials for interior projects and develop a cut sheet that outlines materials specifications and other technical information.
Client Satisfaction and Relationship
Meet and exceed client expectations by providing inspiring design solutions through proper management of projects, staff, and clients. Respond timely to client inquiries or problems in a professional manner and provide solutions to resolve concerns.
Staff Development
Provide guidance to junior staff by reviewing plans, documents, and redlines with staff to ensure tasks and expectations are clear.
Team Performance
Foster a positive, creative, and collaborative environment that focuses on customer service. Work effectively with all levels of management to ensure staff members are working cooperatively on projects that may involve more than one studio.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education experience and four years work experience, OR eight years directly related work experience required. (Required work experience consists of various types and sizes of commercial interiors projects as demonstrated in a portfolio.) NCIDQ certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Intermediate proficiency in the use of AutoCAD
- Knowledge of design principles and commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the interior design field
- Ability to interpret design concepts and layouts
- Knowledge of current local building codes, ADA requirements, and CSI as they relate to interior requirements
- Knowledge of UBC and CA building codes, space planning standards
- Familiarity with furniture types, vendors, materials, and ability to evaluate them
- Knowledge of color theory and space planning concepts for commercial projects
- Understanding of company policies, standards, and procedures outlines in the CAD Manual and Project Manual
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of HCAI (formerly OSHPD)
- Experience creating architectural renderings and visualizations
- Proficiency in the use of Revit, SketchUp, V-Ray, Twinmotion/Enscape
